DESCRIPTION
Liquid Rod Grease (LRG) has the ability to adhere to the formation and the steel rods to dramatically improve lubrication, reduce rotational pressure and torque. LRG is non-toxic, environmental acceptable and easy to apply.
APPLICATIONS/FUNCTIONS
LRG has the advantage of being able to be applied while the rods are still in the hole and can also be applied when there are full returns or total loss of returns. LRG will significantly reduce vibration, torque and frictional drag and minimise wear of the drill string. It also provides a protective layer on the rods to prevent corrosion and minimizes stuck pipe. LRG can be applied internally or can be poured directly into the annulus when returns are lost.
Retrieve the inner tube. Pour in the LRG then reconnect the rods and pump before introducing and lowering the next tube. To avoid core staining it’s recommended the LRG be pumped for 2 – 3 minutes so the grease parcel has travelled sufficient distance down the rods to avoid the tube piecing and becoming smeared with grease. Breakout, lower and pump-down the inner tube and seat before resuming normal drilling operations.

RECOMMENDED TREATMENT
Apply 1 - 2 L down the rods after each core recovery for hole depths of between 0 m to 500 m. Pour 2 - 4 L down the rods after each core recovery for hole depths of between 500 m to 1500 m and 5 L or more after each core recovery for depths greater than 1500 m.
