Pac-L

Low Viscosity Filtration Control Agent

DESCRIPTION
Pac-L is a low viscosity polyanionic cellulose polymer used for improving filtration control in most water based drilling fluid systems without appreciably increasing rheological properties.

Pac-L can be used in most water-based drilling fluid systems including fresh water, sea-water and brines, and will encapsulate clays and shale to prevent swelling and disintegration.

    APPLICATIONS/FUNCTIONS
Pac-L forms a protective colloid envelope over the clay and shale surfaces which inhibits the hydration, it has applications in most drilling mediums and has the ability to improve core recovery in diamond drilling. Pac-L can be added to enhance a Bentonite base system and is compatible with most polymers and lubricants. Addition rates can be adjusted to suit specific applications.

    ADVANTAGES

  • Very economical
  • Effective in fresh, hard and saline environments
  • Promotes thin, slick and robust filter cake
  • Temperature stable
  • Controls fluid loss without significantly increasing fluid viscosity
  • Controls dispersion of reactive clays and shales
  • Compatible with water based drilling fluid systems
  • Supplements the properties of a Bentonite base fluid
  • Improves core recovery and penetration rates
  • Reduces friction and frequency of differential sticking
  • Does not require a bactericide
  • Non-toxic
  • Enviromentally Friendly

    RECOMMENDED TREATMENT

  • Function kg per 1000L 1 - 5kg per 1000L - To reduce torque and improve core recovery 2 - 5.5kg per 1000L - To provide encapsulation and stabilize clays and shales 1 - 6kg per 1000L - To improve filter cake 1 - 5kg per 1000L - Improve the properties of a Bentonite base drilling fluid

Pac-L should be slowly introduced into mechanical agitation or through a mud hopper.
