Inhibitor/Filtrate Control/Viscosifier
DESCRIPTION
Pac-R is a high molecular weight polyanionic cellulose. It provides filtration control and supplementary viscosity in most
water based drilling fluids.
APPLICATIONS/FUNCTIONS
- Controls filtration rates
- Retards shale swelling and disintegration
- Provides viscosity in fresh water, sea water and brine solutions
- Form a thin tough filter cake to protect water sensitive formations
ADVANTAGES
- Effective in small concentrations for viscosity and filtration control
- Effective in moderate to high pH systems
- Non-toxic
- Does not require a bactericide
- Environmentally acceptable
TYPICAL PROPERTIES
- Appearance: White to tan powder
- pH (1% aqueous solution) 8.0
RECOMMENDED TREATMENT
- For fresh water, add 1.5 Kg to 3.0 Kg/1000 litre water
- For salt water systems, add 3.0 Kg to 6.o Kg/1000 litre water
- Add PAC-R slowly through a venturi hopper for best results
