RESIDRILL

Non Damaging, Non Invasive Fluid Additive

DESCRIPTION
RESIDRILL is a product designed to give any drilling fluid non invasive properties. It reduces dynamic filtration loss, stabilises wellbores and protects reservoirs from damage. The product is formulated to reduce fluid loss and stabilise shale by preventing filtrate invasion into permeable structures. Filter cake and differential sticking are therefore minimized and weak formations are stabilised. The product is environmentally friendly.

    ADVANTAGES

  • Reduces dynamic filtration loss
  • Prevents formation of a thick filter cake while drilling through pressure depleted formations
  • Replaces conventional fluid loss control agents and inhibitors eg. PHPA, PAC
  • Performs as a fluid loss reducer and formation stabiliser in oil base muds
  • Improves the performance of solids control equipment by aggregating fine solid particles making them easily removed
  • Protects reservoirs. 11 kg per 1000 litres added to any fluid will limit fluid invasion thus protecting the reservoir permeability
  • A normal treatment of RESIDRILL would be between 5 and 20 kg per 1000 litres

    TYPICAL PROPERTIES

  • Appearance: Dark brown powder
  • Solubility: Partly soluble
  • Specific Gravity: < 0.90

    RECOMMENDED TREATMENT
A treatment of 11 kg per 1000 litres of RESIDRILL to any solids laden or bentonite based mud system on a 20/40 sandstone test cell allowed only minimal to zero “spurt” invasion and 100% return permeability.

The API fluid test for a non invasive additive should be conducted as follows:
    • Use clear bodied acrylic filter cell body
    • Pour 300 grams of 20/40 sand onto the screen with no paper
    • Pour mud in carefully into cell without disturbing the sand
    • Close cell
    • Turn on valve and slowly raise pressure to 100 psi
    • Observe penetration of sand wetting. There should be no mud invasion into the sand bed
    • There should be a 10 - 15 mm zero solids wetting zone immediately beneath the sand / mud interface
    • Measure mls in 30 minutes – should be zero
