DESCRIPTION
BIOSAM ROD GREASE is a biodegradable non-toxic grease formulated from vegetable oils, specialised
tackifiers and thickening agents to produce a very stable compound suited for diamond drilling applications in
areas where environmental protection is of paramount importance.
BIOSAM ROD GREASE contains NO mineral oils, heavy metals, barium, environmentally unfriendly solvents, PSB’s,
copper or zinc compounds. Through enhanced surface sticking characteristics AMC BIOSAM ROD GREASE offers superior
performance to reduce vibration and frictional drag between the rod and casing or rock strata.
APPLICATIONS/FUNCTIONS
BIOSAM ROD GREASE is designed to provide a thin
tenacious and erosion resistant lubristic film coating that,
when subjected to extreme down hole pressures, provides
lubrication, minimizes wear and protects against erosion and
corrosion. AMC BIOSAM ROD GREASE is normally applied
by hand to the drill rod surface before it is lowered back into
the hole.
ADVANTAGES
- Easily applied
- Biodegradable
- Increases drilling efficiencies
- Adheres to the rod under virtually any condition
- Does not easily peel off from the surface
- Resistant to water washing
- Reduces rotational torque and vibration
- Protects against corrosion
- Thermally stable and extremely pressure resistant
- Reduces wear on the drill string
- Environmentally Friendly
TYPICAL PROPERTIES
- Physical appearance: Brown and stringy with vegetable oil odour
- Flash point °C: 280 min
- Oil viscosity at 40 °C: 680 cSt
- Solubility: Insoluble
RECOMMENDED TREATMENT
Under normal drilling conditions initially apply 2.0 – 5.0 kg
of the BIOSAM ROD GREASE for every 100 meters of rods. As the grease builds up on the surfaces apply less
after each bit change.

Hole conditions may vary so the grease should be used according to drilling conditions.
To remove excess rod grease prepare 20 – 30 ltrs of concentrated drilling detergent with 1000 L of water and
circulate through the hole.
