LITHIUM ROD GREASE

Lithium Based Drill Rod Grease

DESCRIPTION
LITHIUM ROD GREASE is high quality lithium based rod grease, specially formulated for use on diamond drill rods to reduce vibration and friction, both between the rod and casing and the rock strata.

LITHIUM ROD GREASE combines refined oils, multi functional extreme pressure additives as well as corrosion inhibitors to protect all types of drill rod surfaces from rust and wear caused by exposure to harsh geological conditions and environments. LITHIUM ROD GREASE has exceptional adhesion characteristics and is designed to provide high quality film strength when subjected to extreme down hole pressures.

    APPLICATIONS/FUNCTIONS
LITHIUM ROD GREASE is normally applied by hand to the drill rod surface before they are run back into the hole. LITHIUM ROD GREASE does not require any additional preparation like heating before it is applied to the drill rods.

    ADVANTAGES

  • Easily applied
  • Circumvents cuttings build-up
  • Increases drilling efficiency
  • Adheres to the rod under virtually any conditions
  • Resistant to hard saline water
  • Thermally stable and extreme pressure resistant
  • Can be applied to wet surfaces
  • Reduces wear to the drill string
  • Reduces rotational torque and vibration
  • Reduces Vibration
  • Improves productivity
  • Protects metals surface

    TYPICAL PROPERTIES

  • Physical appearance: Amber semi-solid paste
  • Thickener type: Lithium complex
  • Specific Gravity: 0.89
  • Solubility: Insoluble

    RECOMMENDED TREATMENT
Under normal drilling conditions initially apply 2.0 – 5.0 kg of the LITHIUM ROD GREASE for every 100 meters of rod. As the grease builds up on the surfaces apply less after each bit change.

    Dry Hole Conditions KG/100m
    NQ 5 - 10
    PQ 10 - 15
    HQ 15 - 25

Hole condition will vary and so the grease should be used accordingly. To remove excess rod grease prepare 20 – 30 L of concentrated drilling detergent with 1000 L of water and circulate through the hole.
