DESCRIPTION
Tru-Bore is a highly activated modified premium grade sodium bentonite designed for difficult drilling operations in both
vertical and horizontal drilling operations. Tru-Bore is extremely effective in horizontal drilling applications where maintaining
hole integrity during pullback is of paramount importance. It is non-toxic and environmentally safe. Tru-Bore is registered
with the USA National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) for use in potable water well construction, considered non-toxic and
environmentally safe.
APPLICATION
Tru-Bore is a ultra-fast hydrating product that builds viscosity quickly to produce a mud system with excellent hole cleaning
properties, excellent gel strength and low filtrate values in fresh to mildly brackish water. Tru-Bore stabilizes formations ranging
from moderate clay soils, high concentrations of sand, to poorly consolidate caving formations by forming a thin tough filter
cake that reduces fluid loss to areas around the borehole.
ADVANTAGES
- Rapid mixing high yielding
- Economical
- Single product low solids drilling fluid
- Exceptional cuttings transporting characteristics
- Minimizes cuttings bed build-up when drilling horizontally
- Enhanced fluid loss characteristics
- Enhanced bore hole stability
- Helps minimise loss circulation conditions
- Environmentally friendly - does not ferment and is nontoxic
- NSF/ANSI Standard 60 endorsed
TYPICAL PROPERTIES
- Appearance: Grey to tan powder
- Barrel Yield: 240 - 260
- Specific Gravity: 2.45 - 2.55
- Sizing: >80% passing 200 mesh
- pH (5% Solution): 8.0 – 9.0
RECOMMENDED TREATMENT
Tru-Bore is pH balanced; however pretreatment of the mix water is recommended; pH and hardness can be adjusted by
using Soda Ash at 0.1 – 0.35 kg per 1000 liters. Tru-Bore is best mixed through a mud hopper or high pressure shearing device.
For every 1000 liters of fresh make-up water, adding 20 to 30 kilograms of Tru-Bore will yield a viscosity of approximately 40
– 45 seconds on a Marsh Funnel.
