The geared winching system is built with a 3:1 reduction, making lifting the auger carriage up and down easy and efficient. The hoisting chain is driven by two sprockets allowing for easy and safe operation. While gravity does most of the digging duties, the winch also allows for increased down-pressure on the auger bit. By increasing the down-pressure on the auger bit, the digging process is speeded up quite considerably. The long winch handle is also used as a filcrum during the winching process.

The winch also acts as a hoisting mechanism for easy lifting of the auger bit.

Currently the MobiDigger is the only earth auger that offers this unique winching feature.
